AALM: Tell us about your philosophy when it comes to your practice.
JBH: When it comes to my practice, I focus on results. My practice involves representing individuals and businesses in complex construction defect and personal injury defense matters. I understand that each case is unique yet equally important, so I work efficiently to obtain the best results for my clients while keeping them informed during the entire process.
AALM: Do you have a personal motto?
JBH: A motto that my father lived by was “As you venture through life lift your head high, stand in your beautiful power, and walk with courage, confidence, positivity, and be strong like a bull.” This motto reminds me that its always important to be yourself, but to treat people with respect and civility.
AALM: Tell us about an experience that has made an impression on you.
JBH: One day I received a book as a gift that focused on typography for attorneys. I had never heard of such a thing, but the book gives tips on how to format writing to make it more visually appealing and easier to read. The law is complex, so I was open to the idea of making legal documents more visually appealing. This unexpected experience was a reminder for me that sometimes it’s important to think outside of the box. The book has assisted me in adapting my practice to a modern approach that it is in line with today’s legal know-hows.
AALM: What do you hope to accomplish in the future?
JBH: A goal of mine is to become a board-certified attorney. However, I am grateful for where I am in the present moment, and at the end of the day, I would like to be remembered as someone who was candid and did things the right way.
AALM: What do you enjoy doing outside of work? Hobbies? Sports?
JBH: In my spare time I enjoy being outdoors. I have played soccer competitively and I’ve recently began playing tennis. Once a year I volunteer at the Ronald McDonald House with my family and friends where we host a trivia night and hand out gifts to the kids. I really enjoy getting out in the Jacksonville community because there is always something to do and the people here are very special. We also recently adopted a Great Dane puppy named June who is growing by the minute.
